Plant Hire Firm Choose Thwaites Dumpers in £20m Fleet Upgrade
UK plant hire firm Hewden is to invest £20m in new equipment, including thwaites dumpers, which it believes will it will invigorate the construction industry.
The company believes its investment is the largest of its kind since the beginning of the recession. Hewden, based in Stretford, is determined to developing its relationships with customers namtionwide with the new range of equipment.
Chief executive Kevin Parkes said: “Hewden is building closer relationships with the leading players in the construction, infrastructure, environmental and industrial market sectors, creating partnerships that deliver a more efficient supply chain."
He added: "We are determined to increase levels of availability so plant and equipment is ready for hire, where and when customers need it."
The order includes a contract for 125 thwaites dumpers, and a £14 million order for JCB equipment. The order is only the start of Hewden's plans for 2011, which Parke says will include further expenditure on widening the range of equipment they offer, for customers needing only a minidumper, to those requiring equipment for large-scale earthmoving and construction.
“This £20m investment is just the first stage in our development plans for 2011 and is a clear sign of our commitment to customer service and achieving growth," said Parke explaining Hewden's strategy. “We currently focus on five product platforms: plant, access, cranes, power generation and accommodation. We will be investing in each of these areas but we are also exploring opportunities to expand our range with complementary products.”
The company was bought by investors Sun European Partners in May 2010, and now has over 1,400 employees around the UK. Sun have increased investment in the company since its purchase, and Parke has plans to use this capital to the fullest to cultivate a distinct advantage over its competitors.
“During 2011 this is likely to include the re-introduction of a specific range of tools for hire, so we can support customers with a full product offer, further improving efficiency and service."
